Something for the Bedside: Areaware Alarm Dock
Great for a “bachelor pad” or even if you’re married; the idea is the same- Designer wares make for luxurious living. There are 3 basic rules when designing your pad:
- It’s your domain. YOU must feel comfortable there.
- A WOMAN (or your wife) should not feel uncomfortable there. No FHM posters please.
- Your bedroom is an extension of your personality yet functional.
This beech wood Areaware Alarm Dock passes muster on these three basic rules comfortably. Elegant and hallmark of an age of retro-simplicity, Jonas Damon’s Alarm Dock reminds me of a time where I would stare at one of those GE flip clocks and wish I had one of those for my bedside table (parents never got me one because I was prone to willful deconstruction). Look I really love this, but the $40 price tag does indeed give one pause for concern (even if this hunk of wood IS sustainably harvested) but the fact is- there are no electronics in this retrotastic device (you have to pull your USB iPhone dock connector through it). The truth though- it still doesn’t stop me from wanting one. [Available here]
