Named "Big Number" for the lucky numbers that continue to strike on the roulette outside the realm of probability, this La Monegasque Chronograph is iconic of the collection.
The Watch for Players
With Roger Dubuis under the Richemont flag, this Swiss horlogerie maison is coming out of the gates strong under the keen eye of CEO Georges Kern. Kern oversees IWC and and Baume & Mercier and has seen great success in revitalising watches from the Schaffhausen and judging from what I’ve seen today, the La Monegasque is but one lynch pin in an newly reinvigorated Roger Dubuis.
Collection La Monégasque by Roger Dubuis is all about Monte Carlo and the player- daring, provocative and downright sexy, Kern’s directives has certainly given Dubuis a firm identity where once was only strong technical expertise and design aesthetic.
Though I’ve featured Big Number here, the most interesting (and most complicated) of this 2011 collection is really the Perpetual Calendar model driven by calibre RD821J, that said La Monégasque Big Number Chronograph is the most representative of the new flagship collection as a whole.
Sporty yet elegant (you know- great for super spies), the dual chronograph men’s luxury watch leans towards the oversized range at 44mm available both in steel and rose gold. The dial, which contrasts a satin sunburst centre with a circular satin exterior, incorporates a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock in the grand tradition of chronographs.

Self-winding mechanical movement with micro-rotor, 133⁄4’’’, 42 jewels, finely adjusted in five positions, rhodium-plated, “Côtes de Genève” decoration. Poinçon de Genève-certification in process.
New self-winding mechanical RD680 movement

Designed, developed and produced by Manufacture ROGER DUBUIS, the RD680 chronograph calibre represents the new generation of mechanical movements at ROGER DUBUIS, matching beauty with performance and building on cutting-edge production technology.
