I’m making a list of what to pack for my 2 week trip back to Singapore and I thought it might be worth a write up to clear up some travel misconceptions. It’s a common misunderstanding that travel involves comfortable clothing sans elegance and expression. This couldn’t be further away from the truth; fact is, I believe a well-dressed Monsieur is more likely to find reason (and free upgrades) at the check in counters of the airport and at hotel reception-Here’s how to travel light yet heavy on style. It’s this author’s hope (and personal experience) that wherever you go you are welcomed and embraced. But then again, a well dressed man is accepted anywhere, wouldn’t you agree?
The Essential Grey Blazer
Indochino calls it a modern classic and I agree. It’s easy to pair neutral tones with blue, black or white jeans. One of the most classically elegant looks a man can pull off is by pairing this with a white shirt and dark pants. However, for the purpose of this article, I’m going to go with a more punched up look, pairing this style essential with white jeans. [Shop here]
J. Crew Shawl Collar Cotton Blend Fleece Cardigan
Cut from soft cotton-blend fleece, J.Crew’s shawl-collar cardigan is an incredibly warm layer. Effortlessly cool and versatile, it will make a stylish off-duty piece whether you wear it with a t-shirt and jeans for a Sunday pub lunch or beneath high-performance outerwear on long country walks.
J. Crew Vintage Slim Fit Jeans
Vintage-style slim cream jeans with a zip front and five pocket set. In soft, pre-worn denim, these classic jeans will seem as if they’ve been a wardrobe staple for years. Adding a sporty jacket and hiking boots will create a look tailored to the great outdoors. [Shop both here]

Made in Italy from Vacchetta leather; I especially love the contrast stitching on these Mr Hare Cognac Loafers.
Mr Hare Cognac Loafers
An archetypal summer style perfect for lounging around on your yacht, walking the sandy beaches of Mykonos or comfortable enough to be worn in cramped confines of economy class (or if so blessed, excellent footwear to show some ankle legs crossed whilst in First Class), these loafers feature light stitching around the toe and decorated with six soft leather tassels. Don’t Forget Your Sunnies
LGR sunglasses are acetate cellulose hand crafted in Italy, polished (also by hand) and built with flex hinges. Most importantly, because I find obvious branding a tad obnoxious I appreciate that there are no outwardly visible logos. [Shop here]
Carry it all in the perfect Carry-On: Filson Small Duffle
Paraffin treated cotton twill with a brass zip top closure with leather pull and snapping storm flap, two fixed-length bridle leather handles with snap shut hand-grip, a 43-inch adjustable/removable bridle leather shoulder strap with leather shoulder pad and interior side pockets. An excellent companion for light traveling adventures. [Shop here]

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in
it or something. I think that you can do with a few
pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is excellent
blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
