I often espouse classic style over trends but the versatility of these Magnanni interchangeable tassel loafers cannot be ignored. I don’t know why no one else has come up with the idea of loafers with buttons on the shoe upper for a quick changes of tassel but I’m glad Magnanni thought of it. After all, we all don’t want to spend a quarter of our pay cheque keeping our wardrobes updated each time we want new shoes to match a look.

The fabric pinstripe upper with leather trim adds a very classy touch to an otherwise standard wholecut loafer. Personally, I would prefer contrast tassels on these shoes but I suppose you could go with the standard black leather weave tassel for a relatively formal look- heck it might even pass professional muster at more sombre workplaces. No word on whether they would come out with a suede shoe but I’m definitely looking forward to some mixing and matching when they do.

That said, in case the price points weren’t an indication, Magnanni shoes are definitely not in the same league as Santoni for quality. Well maintained Santonis will age well and develop a fine patina. Magnannis are a mass shoe catered to a fashion conscious men but I honestly believe they have a place in classically elegant wardrobes- the versatility and tassel combination alone when paired with denim jeans and blazers of all shades and colours make it the perfect weekend companion.
