According to Wiki: a moccasin is a slipper made of deerskin or other soft leather, consisting of a sole and sides made of one piece of leather, stitched together at the top. If that's true, Raised by Wolves is definitely adhering to old school traditions.
I’ve spent the last 4 days doing a lot of walking house hunting for a home in Melbourne and although my leather loafers have done admirably keeping feet and sanity safe despite long distances, I often catch myself thinking that my walkabouts (yes, Australian joke) could be a tad easier. Getting home from Optus (for mobile WiFi so I can start posting again), I hit google and came upon:
Orange Suede Moccasins from Raised by Wolves
It’s no secret that I possess a weakness for shades of orange and when I came upon these Raised by Wolves suede moccasins by Laurentian Chief (based in Canada), I was hooked. History would have it that suede moccasins would be a sartorial gift the Native American peoples; in particular long travelling hunters and traders; gave to the European settlers.
The definitive men’s slipper (I would only wear my Havaianas at the beach or when washing my car), Raised by Wolves makes these moccasins the way moccasins have been made since the Native Americans have been making them. Using Canadian cowhide suede, thin crepe sole for flexibility, luxurious colour accents through contrast brown leather laces and stitching, these are a pair of orange suede shoes I don’t want anyone stepping on.
It’s highly affordable ($120), highly recommended (I’m getting one)– Buy your own here. It’s not a long wait, it ships in July. The Wolves’ tumblr blog is pretty kick ass too, follow it here.
