Montblanc was founded on a love for writing and a belief in its power to change the world That’s why we partnered with UNICEF in 2004 with the aim of achieving one common goal: to sustain primary education and literacy programs for children all over the world.
Montblanc has donated over 10 million USD through 4 initiatives benefiting numerous UNICEF programmes around the world. The impact of the millions of dollars raised over a decade of partnership can be witnessed on the ground in many countries, where more children are finding their way to a better education. In Ethiopia, for example, an estimated 85% of primary-school-aged children are now enrolled.

Each writing instrument is made to measure from materials such as precious resin, sterling silver or ebonite. Gold, platinum, ruthenium or rhodium coatings give each writing instrument a distinctive character, and each piece is accentuated with a UNICEF blue sapphire.
Make the World Better while Shopping: Montblanc for UNICEF
Writing is a key pillar of education and it will be the foundation for Montblanc’s 2017 collaboration with UNICEF. Each item sold between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2018 raises the amount donated to providing more children access to primary education of a better quality.

The comprehensive collection symbolizes a worldwide bond with six very special written characters incorporated into the design. The handwritten characters featured are the first letters children learn to write at school in six different world languages.
The Montblanc for UNICEF Collection is inspired by the Rosetta stone, an ancient artifact fabled for its ability to act as a universal translator of sorts and foster signs of international understanding and cooperation with its multilingual inscription.
Thus there’s a philosophical and poetic bent to your philanthropy when you discover how seamless the design principles and the philanthropy in Montblanc for UNICEF show how precious the gift of writing is. Or the gift of time and a longer time expectancy for that matter.. which brings us to:

How UNICEF helped Singapore
If you recall receiving a packet of milk in school, you might just have been a recipient of help from UNICEF. Although the creation and signing of the UN charter is discussed widely in the history books, another important organisation emerged from the ashes of World War II – UNICEF.
From 1951, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund or UNICEF organised and coordinated the distribution of milk and vaccines in Singapore. In addition to sustenance, it was decided that the children also required basic medical services to extend life expectancy thus vaccinations against tuberculosis were administered in primary schools as well.
Since then, UNICEF has become less of an “emergency fund” but a basic Children’s Fund but the acronym (and all its rich history remains). Worldwide, UNICEF works with premier names like Montblanc, in Singapore, UNICEF has been involved in children’s wellbeing for the last 70 years, celebrating Singapore’s golden jubilee in 2016. Their humanitarian efforts in Singapore span 5 decades.
